Paint - Intumescent (external)
Intumescent Paint is a thin film coating applied to structural steel to protect against fire.  Coatings are generally applied by spray and are primarily used to achieve up to one-hour fire resistance on fully exposed steel members.  Some products can achieve up to 2-hours fire resistance on some larger section sizes.
The coating thickness necessary depends on the section factor (Hp/A) and the fire rating required.  For all external applications a top sealer coat will be required which can be to any RAL or BS reference colour.

Intumescent Paint offers :

  • Fast application
  • Decorative finish
  • Easy to cover complex details
  • Easy post protection fixings to steelwork, eg service hangers
