Intumescent Paint

How it works in practice

Pyrotect recently installed intumescent paint at a new college in Stratford upon Avon. Part of the building was set on fire with one area burning for nearly five hours. The intumescent paint protected the steel for the duration of the fire and although the fire protection was totally destroyed the steel did not distort.

The fire was inevitably costly, and delayed the eventual completion, but the fact that the steel retained its strength minimised the cost and time for remedial work.
